Hare Trail

The hike begins in the Brodwino Housing Estate situated in the Kamiennego Potoku Valley. We walk up
the valley along Oskara Kolberga Street – next to a school complex – at first following the black
walking trail (to the 23 Marca Housing Estate in the Gołębiewska Valley). At the entrance to the
water intake area lies a huge boulder – the date 1922–1926 is what is left of the inscription, at
the far end a building whose style differs from the neighbouring tower blocks and blocks of
flats. Having crossed Malczewskiego Street we turn right and following a path along the
street we head to the west. The path takes us into a small ravine and seeing a saddle on the right
we climb onto the ridge and go along it. From the highest spot we turn right and descend a steep
path (!), crossing the blue tourist trail (Sopot Kamienny Potok – Kartuzy) and turn left into the
Długa Valley (Długi Grunt Valley) together with the black walking trail. By the road along which
the trail runs we come across erratic boulders and specimens of imposing trees, the most
interesting of which is a larch – a natural monument. Further on the right marshy ground and
imposing pines by the road. We come across another larch – a natural monument with an
information panel. Soon, at the crossroads we turn left (down on the right an overgrowing tarn) and
come to a junction of forest paths with a tarmac road; further on the right the buildings of the
Gołebiewo Forestry. For about 300 m we walk along a tarmac road – together with the black walking
trail – and then we enter a forest path (slanting towards the right) amidst a young forest with a
distinct presence of larch. This takes us to the road at the back of the buildings in Gręzowo (the
Sopot Forestry). Walking in the same direction we reach a tarmac road (watch out for the traffic)
and turn left into the Nadleśniczych Road. From here the trail heads to the south-east and east.
Shortly, we leave behind Borodziej, where the forest services have constructed facilities for
tourists, etc. By the road, imposing spruces and Douglas firs. We soon come across the black (Sopot
– Kamienica Królewska), blue and green tourist trails running alongside this part of the route.
Together with the green trail we turn left and along the ridge of the hill head for the city. At
the dividing point of the trails there is a view over the Bay of Gdańsk. The road begins to
descend. Along the way we can observe specimens of different trees and anthills. There are more and
more roads and paths around. Amidst rather unattractive workshops and industrial buildings we
arrive on Czyżewskiego Street in the immediate vicinity of the border between Sopot and Gdańsk.
